- Wednesday/Thursday 4/20-4/21: Video on the Planets, Sun, Comets, and Asteroids. Name that pllanet group activity. Phases of the moon and the Mt. Nose Technique for identifying times for each phase. Work on Planet Worksheet and Mt. Nose Worksheet. Planet WS due Friday. Mt. Nose WS due Monday. Read 25.2, 25.3, and 25.4 (can spread out over several days).
- Friday 4/22: Check off preliminary observations (at least 2 moons and 1 sunrise or sunset). Solar and lunar eclipses. Hand out 25+26 Review Sheet.

The Week of 4/18-4/22
Are you making any observations of the sun and moon? Remember that I will be checking your observations this Friday. I will be looking for at least 2 moon observations and at least one sunrise or sunset. The forecast is looking pretty good for this week, so this is a good time to make as many observations as possible! If you are reading this Sunday night, go out there right now and look for the moon!!!

The Week of 4/11/11-4/15/11 and Answers to Wave Review
I have just completed entering 3rd Quarter Grades and rounding where appropriate so that you can see your quarter grade on EdBox. If you see anything that looks incorrect, let me know. 2nd and 4th Period students please remember to turn in your signed consent form for Ms. Mitchell. It will be worth 5 points in the 4th quarter.

- Monday 4/11: Go over Wave Review (see answers below). Hand out and discuss 4th Quarter "Deal". Hand out and explain Astronomical Observations Assignment. Wave Test tomorrow.
- Tuesday 4/12: Turn in Wave Review (only problems 1-5 with work need to be turned in). Take Wave Test. Introduction to the next unit.
- Wednesday/Thursday 4/13-4/14: Introduction to Concept Mapping. In class examples and then work on one in your group. Go to Computer Lab to do Hubble website activity. Read 26.5.
- Friday 4/15: The Big Bang and Galaxies. Read 26.4.

The Week of 4/4-4/8
I have just updated grades, so you can check them. The last assignment that will count for the 3rd quarter is the Notebook Check that we do tomorrow (Monday). Remember to have complete entries including Cornell Notes! Also, remember that this week Block Days are on Tuesday and Thursday.

- Tuesday 4/5 and Thursday 4/7 (Block Days): Notes on Refraction, Lenses, and the Human Eye. Hand out Review Sheet for Test next Tuesday 4/12. Grade Check.
- Wednesday 4/6: Diffraction and Spectroscope Lab to be done in Notebook.
- Frieday 4/8: No School. Teacher Work Day.

The Week of 3/28-4/1
Welcome back from break! I hope you were able to catch up on your sleep and do some fun things. We have less than 2 weeks until the end of the 3rd Quarter and before we know it, the year will be over, so this is a great time to get caught up with any missing assignments.
Next week we will finish up with waves and do our Notebook Check (on Monday). It is a different schedule (Monday-A, Tuesday-Block, Wed-Special, Thurs-Block), so be prepared for the changes. The Deadline for Late Work and Extra Credit will be Tuesday 4/5 by 1:45 pm.
- Monday 3/28: The Human Ear. Resonance. Tacoma Narrows Bridge video. Turn in Heating of Land and Water Lab and Wave Worksheet if not already.
- Tuesday 3/29: Electromagnetic Waves. Properties of Light and the Old Wave versus Particle Controversy. Read 18.1 and 18.2.
- Wednesday/Thursday 3/30-3/31: Reflection of Light. Computer Sound Lab and Mirror Exploration. Turn in Sound Lab by the end of the period. Read 18.3.
- Friday 4/1: Colors! Primary colors for pigments and light beams. Mixing colors. Read 18.4.

Happy Spring Break!!

The Week of 3/14-3/18
2nd and 4th Periods: Please remember to return your consent form to Ms. Mitchell. Just sign it, have your parent sign it, and put it in the mail. Fill Ms. Mitchell's mail box this week! Remember that the Heating of Land and Water Lab is due by Friday (so if you are taking off for Spring Break a day or two early, turn it in before you go!).
- Monday 3/14: Turn in Heat and Temperature Review. Take Heat and Temperature Test. Start Wave Worksheet.
- Tuesday 3/15: Wave definitions and wave problems. Work on Wave Worksheet, due Friday. Read 17.1 and 17.2.

The Week of 3/7-3/11
There is a late-opening this week! The only FLEX will be Tuesday during lunch. Come in for Test Corrections if you need to!
- Monday 3/7: Turn in Specific Heat Workhsheet. Finish Heating Curve and Notes on Types of Heat Transfer. Work on Heat of Fusion Worksheet, due tomorrow.
- Tuesday 3/8: Turn in Heat of Fusion Worksheet. Introduce Heating of Land and Water Lab. Figure out which materials you will use and write hypothesis and background. Hand out Heat Review. Critical Reader due Block Day!
- Wed/Thurs 3/9-3/10: Turn in Critical Reader. Heating of Land and Water Lab. Take data and make graphs as you go to use your time effectively!!
- Friday 3/11: Go over Heat and Temp Review for Test on Monday 3/14. Write conclusion for Heating of Land and Water Lab if you don't have any questions. Heating of Land and Water Lab due Tuesday (or Friday if you are doing full inquiry write-up).
